Ubuntu workaround for 2nd CD problem

When the time comes to switch installation media, the installer doesn't let go of the CD-ROM, so the new CD-ROM isn't recognized when it's inserted.

The workaround goes like this:

  • When the installer asks for the second CD-ROM, alt-tab to another window, then use ctl-alt-D one or more times to minimize everything
  • Launch a shell and issue this command:

sudo umount -l /media/cdrom0

  • Eject the CD-ROM and insert DISC 2.
  • Go back to the installer window and resume installation.
  • When it asks for DISC 1 again, just cancel; I wasn't able to figure a work-around for this one.
  • The game is now installed. You'll want to reboot to clean up the CD-ROM mount housekeeping info.

The game worked beautifully for me after installation.
