The CodeWeavers community is made up of members from around the world, and we believe that diversity is a source of strength. The Code of Conduct is here to remind community members that effective and compassionate communication is essential to our mission.
Everyone deserves a positive experience, regardless of age, disability, education, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, neurodiversity, nationality, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, race, religion (or lack thereof), number of visas in passport, experience with interstellar travel, or favorite flavor of tofu.
The Code of Conduct sets some general guidelines for behavior that is and isn’t tolerated, lays out a method for reporting inappropriate behavior, and explains what action CodeWeavers takes when alerted to such shenanigans.
Whether you are posting in a CodeWeavers forum or emailing CodeWeavers staff, the Community Code of Conduct applies to you (heck, we would argue that these guidelines are just great principles to live by).
Be kind. Please. It really is that simple.
Be considerate. Don’t assume anyone has motives that are less than pure. We all want to be heard, acknowledged, and understood. Taking people at their word is the simplest way to validate our peers. Be respectful. Disagreements happen. In fact, disagreement can be the catalyst for growth. Vigorous discourse often leads to a new understanding of both the topic at hand, and the people around us. Be nice. There is no need to put other people or their contributions down. Communicate Effectively. Focus on the issue at hand and not the world at large.
By doing these things we increase the likelihood of getting our point across and decrease the chances of causing anyone undue stress. Words have meaning and weight (they don’t break bones, but they sure can ruin someone’s day), so avoid personal attacks and generally trying to push people’s buttons.
Types of communication and behavior that will not be tolerated include but are not limited to the following:
Community members should report inappropriate behavior immediately. Please capture a screenshot of the Code of Conduct infraction, and use our contact us form with CoC Concern in the subject line. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted. All concerns are taken seriously and handled in a confidential manner.
Individuals who are repeatedly brought to the attention of site administrators for violating the Code of Conduct, may have their CodeWeavers account temporarily or permanently revoked.
