MyInfo 7 limited functionality

MyInfo 7 has had many updates, but continues to run very poorly in Linux.

I'm running Manjaro 20.0.3 with Crossover 19.0.2 and have had a difficult time using MyInfo 7 for daily work.
The main problem is that documents in the MyInfo viewing pane disappear if the cursor is moved away from the pane. Bringing the cursor back to the pane and clicking on the pane will sometimes cause the viewing pane content to reload and become visible again. But much of the time, this will not work.

These problems are very odd because MyInfo 7 is built with cross-platform architecture and so, in theory, should be far more stable than MyInfo 6 in Linux. With luck, the bugs will be worked out soon and it will be very stable. A far better solution however will be for Milenix Software (the developer) to release a native Linux version of MyInfo 7. Currently, Mybase (WJJ Soft) is of the only truly powerful note-taking applications for Linux. MyInfo 7 could easily become the best of note-taking application in the Linux software ecosystem.

As I reported in database of software MyInfo 7.2 (built 7062) installs and runs in Manjaro Pahvo 21.1.0, but MyInfo 7.2 suffers from many problems in Crossover, Wine, and PlayonLinux.

These problems include:

  • problems with scrolling,
  • the document viewing pane turns black or grey when the cursor is not in the viewing pane. The developer of MyInfo reports the problem is owing to problems with Crossover's design, and I assume a similar problem with Wine and PlayOnLinux.

Until these serious problems are addressed through updates in Wine, Crossover and in MyInfo, I cannot recommend MyInfo 7.2 for serious work in Crossover. This is unfortunate because MyInfo 7 is one of the most powerful and flexible note-taking tools available.

To use MyInfo 7 in Linux, install it in Bottles (https://flathub.org/apps/detai...) where it runs almost flawlessly.
Currently, MyInfo 7 will not run properly in Crossover. Until this problem with Crossover is fixed, use the open source app Bottles instead in which MyInfo runs very well indeed.
