Bugs in Igor Engraver 1.7

I have just noticed two bugs in Igor Engraver:

  1. In the dialog window Instrument settings for glockenspiel, the field Untransposed doesn't show the untransposed note because it is to high for the field.

  2. The fields Score transposition and Part transposition can't set a note higher than E6 so you can't get the glockenspiel -- preserving its correct range markings in Igor Engraver -- to become an untransposed instrument in case you want to use the now standard crotales clef for the glockenspiel.

However, I strongly doubt that Noteheads will fix these bugs. Everyone acquainted with Noteheads knows why this is so.

  1. Sometimes when one selects an object like a note with either a single click or a double click (for selecting e.g. all the notes in a part) Igor gets unusable showing a selection ring around the object and displaying the processing icon. In this case one has to restart Igor Engraver; merely closing the layout window does not help.
  1. In Igor Engraver there are three types of selection: In editing mode, click selection; and in keyboard input mode, entry selection and note selection. Despite that the Igor Engraver manual states that transposing notes is possible with note selection, this is not true.
  1. After editing musician settings and instrument settings in their respective dialog windows accessed from the Musicians field in the Piece window, the changes do not show up in the score although the changes do show up in the part layouts and the Layout field in the Piece window.
  1. With a score open, click on the System tool. Right-click on a system tab and select Scale system. Set a percentage in the preset format (xx.x) in the dialog window that opens. Click OK. The operation is not performed. Repeat the procedure but enter a percentage without a decimal (xx). The scaling works.
  1. The operation Set parenthesised note does not work.

  2. With the operation Next layer, one can get to layers with higher numbers than 9 despite that Igor Engraver handles only 9 layers per staff.

  1. The operation Add dynamic letter m to all staves is not listed in the window Key bindings. Therefore one cannot assign a keyboard shortcut to that operation.
  1. The key command for freezing or thawing stems (default: Shift+Ctrl+Alt+I) can only freeze stems, not thaw them. To thaw a stem one has to right click on the note and in the context menu choose Stem direction -> Thaw.
  1. The operation Set guitar right hand is not listed in Edit -> Key bindings.

  2. In the menus, the key Delete is called Rubout.

  3. The sub-menu Selection movement in the menu Input ought to be called Input caret and selection movement.

  1. Tremolandos are always played back with the higher note or notes first.
  1. The operations Break beam and Join beams reverse any changes made to stem lengths in the same bar.
  1. The command Ctrl+Alt+R, for the operation Add dynamic letter r to all staves, does not work.
  1. In the dialog window Color, accessed via the contextual menu item "Set color of ..." (for e.g. a note), one has to set all desired custom colors in one go before clicking OK; returning to the dialog window to define new colors later will overwrite the ones earlier defined.
