CrossOver Preview is on a roll with another Wine update and more targeted improvements for gaming on Mac. For more information about our Preview release less than 2 weeks ago, you can read our last update here. After that, keep reading to learn more about the exciting bleeding edge updates in our release. And if you haven't already, you still have time to use the deal code TryTheEdge to save 25% off the price of CrossOver+ until September 27, 2024.*
Today's Preview release includes a bump to Wine 9.17, bringing improvements to a variety of applications on both Mac and Linux. It also includes an update to D3DMetal 2.0, which adds compatibility for many games on Apple silicon Macs, including Street Fighter 6, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Need for Speed Heat, Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition, Teardown, Age of Wonders 4 and Dragon's Dogma 2.
Finally, our Instagram followers noticed last week that our QA team was testing Red Dead Redemption 2. We have been working very hard on getting this game running on Mac, and we're proud to announce that it is currently running with the latest Preview build on Intel-based Macs. We are still working to improve Red Dead Redemption 2 compatibility on Apple silicon Macs, but we invite those on Intel-based Macs to try it out and let us know how it’s working. We look forward to having a release in the near future with full support for all users.
