New D3DMetal option

This release offers an alternate way to run DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 games through CrossOver, using components from the Apple game porting toolkit. It can be enabled by toggling on “D3DMetal” in the right bottle sidebar.

We are happy to report that this new D3DMetal option improves quality, compatibility, and performance for many games on Macs with the M1 chip or later, including Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, Mortal Kombat 1, Deep Rock Galactic, Satisfactory, Monster Hunter Rise, God of War and Batman Arkham Knight.

Note that Elden Ring and Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon default to launching with Easy Anti-Cheat disabled.

More gaming excitement

We are also happy to report that Baldur’s Gate 3 is working out of the box, and we recommend enabling D3DMetal or DXVK for the best experience.

Denuvo games are now playable, and this release also includes support for GStreamer for multimedia decoding.

Sonoma support

CrossOver 23.5 is the first CrossOver release with support for macOS Sonoma with optimizations from thorough compatibility testing.

Important fixes

CrossOver 23.5 also boasts better compatibility for a variety of distros, including Debian 13, openSUSE 15.1 and the upcoming Ubuntu 23.10 release.

Lastly, CrossOver 23.5 includes a handful of fixes, including special characters not rendering in certain apps and components not loading with MetaTrader 4.

How to get it

Customers with active support entitlements will be prompted soon to upgrade to CrossOver 23.5. Alternatively, you can download the latest version here.

If CrossOver asks for registration, use your codeweavers.com email address and password to register and unlock CrossOver. Email info@codeweavers.com if you need more help.

* macOS Sonoma is required for D3DMetal option and Denuvo games.

Meredith has been with CodeWeavers since 2019, and currently wears both the QA Manager and CrossOver Product Manager hats. After getting her PhD in linguistics, she somehow stumbled into the Free and Open Source Software world. First of all, congratulations on the new release!

Will this release also allow Linux users to enable Crossover's alternative to DXVK for DX 11/12? I know Crossover has been working on such a replacement which, if I remember correctly, was to provide better compatibility with Windows application using Direct X.

Congradulations!

I see CodeWeavers and Apple came to a mutual agreement in regards to D3DMetal utilization.
Hoping there's more to that (assistance, contributions, etc.). Congratulations.

Um, is there a trick to get it to work? It's constantly grey'd out on all my bottles.

Make sure you have Apple Silicon-based Mac and MacOS Sonoma installed. Intel-based Macs can't use D3DMetal.

Hi, I was wondering does this update allow users to run steam games with Anti-Cheat enabled on games?

why the resolution of game is most at 1440X900

Are seriously sell this ? S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat does not even works there ! (works fine on lutris btw)
Not to mention (debian XCFE setup) thre are NO icons on the Applications menu, I had to dig into the /opt to find the binaries!
Total crap, thanks for the 'trial', at least I did not pay for this.

This is such great news. I’m sorry this doesn’t apply to my Intel-based Mac. But it’s great that Apple is working with you, after all the help you’ve given them.

Will there be ongoing DX12 support for Intel-based Macs? I can understand if such backward-compatibility would be too difficult.

I have an issue with Elden Ring that I would really be happy if you guys can help me fix.
After I passed the castle gate in the beginning of the game. right where the wolves attack. if I go past there the game would crash immediately. I would be extremely grateful if you guys can help me fix this.

Do you plan to update CX 23.5 with GTPK 1.0?
