I installed CXGames 9.0 beta 4 and it works fine with the Steam UI. I didn't have to tell winecfg it was a vista app, just created a new winxp bottle and installed Steam into it, then copied over the steamapps.
My issue is that hitting OK/Cancel on the Settings dialogue box in the new UI has no effect - just a slight flicker.
I know there is no full support for this beta, but would it be sensible to submit a ticket? I'm using Ubuntu 8.04, latest Steam UI, 4GB RAM, NVidia GTX 260. Everything else works fine including the apps from the old bottle such as HL2.
