Star Trek Armada II: No Compatible Direct3D8 accelerator found

Anyone else encountered an error like this? Using a windows 7 64-bit bottle with DirectX for Modern Games installed, and the DXVK switch on. I also tried Win XP, and also DirectX for Pre-Windows XP installer.

The weird thing is, I have a friend who's running the same settings and for him it works perfectly. Both M1 laptops. Only difference we can find is he's running Monterey and I'm on Ventura. Could that be it?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Are you both using the same model of M1? Some games work only with original M1 Macbook Pro (without a notched camera) due to the different displays. If that is the case, we are working on display mode virtualization that should help, but we don't have a timeline yet on a release.

Best,
Meredith

If it’s a notch-related issue (or rather, a display-with-extra-pixels-to-the-left-and-right-of-the-notch issue), perhaps you might try a resolution in System Settings which excludes the top rows of pixels. Some people use those resolutions to “hide the notch”.

Good call Meredith, yes he is using the notch-less model while mine has a notch.

John, thanks for the suggestion, but running in a notch-less resolution unfortunately didn't seem to fix it.

Hi Zak,

Currently, the only workaround is using an external monitor :/ We hope to offer a better solution in an upcoming CrossOver release!

Best,
Meredith

In clamshell mode, you mean?

Confirmed that it works in clamshell mode! Thanks all!

I don't understand the solution from above.

There is a downloadable demo version https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=2926 where everything can be tested. How is this fixed?
