Battlefield 4 always crashes at first screen

Hello everyone, I’m having major issues with Battlefield 4 and CrossOver 25. I installed Battlefield through Steam. I created a “Steam” bottle, installed DirectX for Modern Games, and installed the EA App for Steam. Everything is inside the same “Steam” bottle.

I launched Steam and installed Battlefield 4. I tried all possible in-bottle configurations (D3DMetal, Dxvk, etc.) and all three options: default, M-Sync, and E-Sync.

Battlefield is launched from Steam, and the EA App starts along with it. The first Battlefield screen loads correctly (the black screen with the blinking cursor in the top right), and the Metal HUD also starts correctly. However, after a few seconds, everything freezes. Sometimes, CrossOver reports that the EA App has crashed, sometimes it doesn’t. But in any case, BF4 never manages to start.

Do you have any suggestions? Is there a way to check the logs somewhere? (Apologies for my silly questions, but I’m new to CrossOver and don’t know how it works.)

Let me know if you want any tweaks! 😊

I've been having the same problem. (Freezing on black screen with white cursor blinking) I editted the game's config to start it in windowed mode to see if any errors popped up and got this

Directx function "device->CreateTexture(&texDesc3d, desc.subResourceCount != 0 ? reinterpret_cast<const D3D11_SUBRESOURCE_DATA>(desc.subResourceData) : 0, &texture->m_texture3d) failed with HR: -2147467263 ("Unknown"), GPU: "Apple M1 Max", Driver: 9.16.0013.4052 1/1/2016 10:00:00
