While I try to download the steam, the error message appeared

cxbottle:error: unable to create the 'Steam' bottle in '/Users/c.c./Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/Steam'

I used the default settings and reinstalled and restarted many times, but the same error message still appears.

Since it says it cannot create a file in a certain location, I directly checked it using command ls to check the folder, and the battles directory was empty. I also tried granting permissions through the settings, but that was not the issue either—the problem still persists.

Here is my system information: macOS 15.3, MacBook Air M3. The software is also the latest version, 24.07. I think the issue might be caused by dependencies or some other system settings? Or possibly a software conflict? Should I wait for a software update?

P.S.: I just started using macOS, so the issue could also be due to my own settings.

It is your MacOS account user name, c.c. which is causing the problem. Don't use spaces, periods, or other punctuation characters other than an underscore, _. That is general good practice for MacOS account user names, not just with respect to Crossover.

To change your Mac account name, you can do the following:

  1. Select the Apple menu.
  2. Click System Settings.
  3. Click Users & Groups in the sidebar.
  4. Press and hold Control on your keyboard.
  5. Click the name of the account you want to rename.
  6. Enter the administrator name and password you used to log in.

–Stick to ASCII lower-case letters, numbers, and the underscore for your user name.
–You can use anything you like for your password.

Thank you for your kind notification!
I logged into my Apple ID directly after I receive the laptop, unfortunately, my Mac automatically set the username the same as my home directory. But after changing my Mac’s username as you said, I still couldn’t use it. Then I realized corssover's image(I though should be this word) was pointing to the /Users/c.c. , so I reinstalling macOS, everything worked fine😀.
