In some games I'm getting audio crackling if I use my AirPod Pro (first gen) on Crossover 24.0.5. Games affected so far:

Batman: Arkham Knight
Skyrim

I think it's related to sample rate. Unfortunately, I cannot change the sample rate of my AirPods (which are fixed at 48KHz) but the issue does go away if I adjust the sample rate with other headphones.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Can't replicate it on my Steam Deck (where I also connect my AirPods), so I feel like it's specifically a sample rate thing within Crossover.

Are you absolutely convinced your BT connection to your AirPods isn't the issue? Completely different circumstance (but perhaps same firmware) - my AirPods were very crackly with my Peloton bike yesterday. A quick disconnect and reconnect did the trick.

I realize this is a very different circumstance, but I'm hoping it saves you some heartburn.

I'm fairly sure it's a Crossover issue, as opposed to a BT or AirPods issue, as I can play other games in the same bottle without experiencing any issues (e.g. Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, Tony Hawks Pro Skater Remastered). Confused why it affects some games and not others.

I'm installing my copy of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 & 2 remastered now. I'll try it with my AirPods and let you know what I have going on (Steam bottle). Will then install Elder Scrolls V Skyrim in the same bottle and test that one.

No crackling or audio distortions in Skyrim audio sounded great with my AirPods 2 Pro.

Interesting. Did you use the Crosstie method to install Skyrim? I didn't and now wondering if that's the issue (possibly it installs an audio library which Arkham Knight also uses).

No, I never use the crossties I have horrible luck with them working, except for the main hubs like Steam, B.net, etc... I install all my apps within them.

So I installed steam, and installed sky into steam on an external drive, and works great! :)

I noticed the same issue with Portal 2 recently, however it didn't happen when I launched the game using Crossover Preview.

Hi folks, I'm installing Portal 2 in the latest version of Crossover (Not Preview) and will try it with my Airpods 2 Pro. I'm curious about this trying to widdle down some possibilities this user is having with his audio. I'll report back with what happens :)

While I had no crackling or echoing in the parts of the game that I could see I have an issue that's preventing me from testing the audio completely. If anyone knows how to fix this issue so I can help with the audio please let me know. The game is launching between 2 out of 3 monitors at the bottom portion of them.

Portal 2, standard crossover Version 24.0.6 (24.0.6.37103), Airpods Pro 2

Audio is all fine from what I can see and mess around with the menu but I've never seen this problem. NO NEED TO TROUBLESHOOT unless you want more of a solid audio test. I don't play the game it's my son's. So audio A'ok.

I think the only way to fix this atm is to use 96khz via the midi setup

However, in some games it persists regardless when playing via headphones. I.e. Quake Enhanced comes to mind. Not sure why...
