Don't expect the CrossOver devs to solve what ever problems macOS is facing during their transitions to a completely new FS.
As a Linux user I have tested several filesystems including something very similar to APFS - btrfs (Better File System) and f2fs.
The btrfs has the same on the fly data security as apfs is going to feature but btrfs file system is a diskspace eater and occationally puke your file system. Said in short: is is not reliable enough for data storage - maybe in 5 years or so.
The other is a Samsung invention especially created for nand chips found in phones and on ssd's - It seems stable but do not have the on the fly backup apfs are going to feature.
I am NOT saying the same is going to happen to apfs but my advice - one user to another - postpone High Sierra until apfs is proven stable and reliable.
