Run a windows .exe program

I have a Windows .exe file/program. Previously crossover would just run this program. Now every time I launch it I am asked to create a new bottle and install it. How can I go back to just running it? Just updated to OS X 10.8.2 not sure if this is part of the issue with it.

This is happening because we changed the default behavior for handling .exe files on double-click in Crossover 11. We found that in most cases, users (particularly new users) expected that the double-click of an .exe file would result in Crossover's Install Software menu launching and running a standard install, whereas (as you know) the actual behavior was to use "run command" against a default bottle.

So, for Crossover 11 and beyond the default behavior for double-clicking on an .exe file is to invoke the installer. In cases such as yours, where you're launching an app directly from an .exe, you'll need to use Crossover's Programs>Run Command tool to manually select the proper bottle and the browse to and select the .exe. You can use the "save command to programs menu" button to create a launcher that invokes this specific bottle and command. The launcher will of course go into Crossover's programs menu. Note that if the location of the .exe file is variable, this isn't a good option because the location of the file is locked into the launcher as of the time of creation, and you'll probably just have to use Run Command each time.

Thank you 😊
