As of late I have been unable to play any source games what-so-ever. The games are freezing at the splash screen. One of my cores stays utilized at 25% until I kill hl2.exe. Any help is of course appreciated.

I've tried HL2 on my system, and it runs fine, along with portal.
If I don't ask, someone will, so what OS/distro are you on? Maybe there was some update that broke things for HL2...
