I'm trying to get Trine to run on leopard through crossover games (not working). Did some research and apparently I need some stuff from winetricks. So will crossover games recognize the files winetricks installs? Also, do you need to install wine to use winetricks?

Can you tell me what exactly what you require winetricks to install?

As it stands, winetricks wouldn't/mightn't work with crossover's wine
build due to the way crossover is installed, and possibly because of
modifications made to that wine build - the short answer is probably
'no, not with a bit of hacking'..and it wouldn't surprise me if parts
of winetricks are already incorporated into crossover in one way or
another....but, if I knew exactly what you were going to install using
winetricks I may be able to tell you some more...

I believe he's trying to install the following; this is from the WineHQ.

wmp10, Physx, and d3dx9.

I'm working through trying to get this to run on a MBP right now for a friend.

Well, directx9 is of course a supported install target in cxinstallwizard. I've seen
Physx install itself, but I'm not totally sure if it's working correctly or not, and
wmp10 only seems to earn a bronze medal, but in crossover standard/pro wmp9 appears
as an install target (I don't know if wmp10 is a definite prerequisite)...

At any rate, we don't use/need winetricks for these things.

Physx appears to be problematic even with the latest Wine so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't working with CXG at this time.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that...iirc it was some demo I tried ;
Physx seemed to install okay, but best I could figure it, it was a show stopper
because it didn't work properly, and the demo would bail (not start), claiming
no valid videocard could be found...even though my videocard should have come
back valid....something like this ...
