i downloaded the trial version of crossover games and set it up and downloaded steam through crossover. steam runs fine but when i go to purchase counter strike source through the steam app the purchase link does not work. how do i get to purchase the game and download it?
Download the windows version of Firefox and install it then go to the page and use it to try and purchase the game from their it will want to open a steam:// link and ask if steam is running if it is it will proceed from their.
It it possible to install IE6 into the same bottle and have it work as it does on windows but its a lot of over rides and could cause problems later on.
Another option is to forgo the browser completely. You'll notice that clicking on the "buy with steam" button tries to open a URL of the form "steam://purchase/??". Copy this URL. In CrossOver, you have the option of running a program from the command line via Programs:Run Command.... Run Steam, but add the URL as a command line argument after steam.exe. When Steam opens, it will start the process. I purchased and played CounterStrike:Source using this method.

I get a crossover error everytime I try this. Can you give more detailed instructions?
you could also try to run "start steam://purchase/xxx"
