Age of mythology RETOLD

Anyone know how to play age of mythology retold on crossover (via steam)?? I download it on crossover but when I try to open it, it instantly pops up a "crucial wine error" something like that

Hello there! I would say given that the game is basically brand new it may take a bit for the devs to get it working if it's even on their massive to do list. I want to play that one too so if you find a way to get it working before I pony up and buy it I would appreciate it. Try opening the steam bottle with different options ticked some add support for other types of games some don't. The thing about crossover from my experience is it takes some configuring to get some games to work. Then again the newest game I play is probably D4...

Maybe vote for the game to be a focus or contact support they are super cool about getting back and offering any advice they can. I've yet to have a bad experience and I just worked out a major issue with BNet with them.

I know it's not an answer but I hope some of the ideas help.

It works with the latest preview version of crossover. I just tested the singleplayer for now.

Machine: Macbook M3 Pro

How can I download the "crossover preview" version? I can only find the free-trial "traditional" version. I really want to play this game.

I can confirm that AOM Retold works perfectly in single player using CrossOver Preview.

Must use D3DMetal settings, and high resolution mode. I found that I had to make the game windowed mode using the in game settings, then fullscreen the window, otherwise the window is a little bugged.

Multiplayer does not appear to be working however, every lobby I joined DeSynced once the game launched. I also can't use the steam overlay at all.

To download crossover preview you need to go to this link:

https://www.codeweavers.com/preview

same here. It works for me with newest crossover preview. but really sad that multiplayer won't run ...

For me, multiplayer works with CO-preview; but the game desyncs on the first run. when the game rebuilds and the map gets restored; it runs perfectly.
It's fine for me playing with friends; but i dont know how well playing with strangers will go if i desynchronising every session.

No, and momentarily I am having the same issue...

Still no updates on the matter from the CodeWeavers team?

UPDATE: I bought Crossover Preview today and did exactly what you all say, and I just played single player and ALSO multiplayer (with friends and ranked) with no problems at all! Don't know if it's only my case, but give it a try and confirm :D

Could you be more specific on 'replacing the Visual C++'-item please. I followed the steps posted above and actually had to reinstall everything because even my other games (Age of Empires II DE for example) wouldn't run anymore... Many thanks!

Age of Mythology does not work in Sonoma 14.0, crashing instantly with a Wine bug. It does however work fine in the latest version of Sequoia 15.1.

RE: Post #5

If you speak of the same bug as I encountered and your cursor is limited to an inch above the screen bottom making scrolling down impossible; I've also found I could Command-Tab out of Age of Mythology, move my cursor down to the bottom of the screen, and Command-Tab back into Age of Mythology. That fixes the issue for at least the rest of the game. It might even work without moving down my cursor, just Command-Tabbing. I don't know.

I also encountered this bug during the main menu, so it's not limited to in-game matches.

Though to be honest, it's hard to replicate. I don't know the cause.

I assume it has something to do with the Dock. Mac OS's windows are usually limited to maximize above the Dock and the while Age of Mythology was definitely borderless fullscreen, the cursor was suspiciously closely limited to wherever the top row of pixels of my Dock is. Though that's just a suspicion on my part.
