THİS SOLUTİON WORK FOR ME !!
VİA:MrSniperik from reddit
Hey, I appreciate you sharing my solution :)
But I think it's better to share the link to the original post, as it's well-formatted and easier to follow. I'm also answering questions and helping people there. Link to Temporary Fix on Reddit
Hi, first of all thank you for your time fixing a temporary solution for everyone. I sadly have carefully followed the steps multiple times but the error persists while trying to update the game. Do you know by any chance if this fix only works for users who have previously played the game, or would it work on users like myself who are installing everything for the first time (Battle.net/Diablo Immortal)?
EDIT: Just saw the recent CrossOver update, thanks again!
Apparently not. Apparently we are NOT ready to go, and the error still comes up.
Despite the news that it works with new Battle.net and the fact that I purchased the upgrade to Crossover to get access to this build that SUPPOSEDLY fixes the battle.net issue:
IT STILL DOES NOT WORK! STILL GET SAME ERROR BEFORE
😭JUST INSTALLING BATTLE.NET.😭
Haven't even gotten to D4 install.
How can you guys have the b@lls to claim it is fixed, ask for money for the update and have it NOT be fixed.
This feels like bait and switch. This is pretty crappy support. And other users were giving me crap for
trying to light a fire under the dev's butt on a crucial timing for D4. This is my answer to them. This. The
exact reason I have the right to be upset. Paying for an item that is supposed to be fixed, and it is not.
Here's an idea. Why not fix the error FIRST, then try and renew people after it's fixed. Yikes!

Hi Peter,
I don't have balls, but I hope it's okay that I'm responding...
We tested this thoroughly (shockingly, we also thought fixing the error was a smart move), and it was working for us. We are now hearing that it's not working for everyone, and the best advice I have for affected users is to submit a (civil) support ticket, so we can try to narrow down why it's not working for everyone.
If your future posts continue to violate our Code of Conduct, I will start deleting them without response.
So far, im still having issues with battle net installation from a fresh clean install approach. Battle net runs (suspicious) despite the earlier error. Can i use the method earlier discussed to get D4 working?
I get the same error message with the update to 24.0.6 as before with version 24.0.5!
The difference is that the client has now been updated to the current version of Bettlenet. That worked. But then there is apparently another "adjustment" that again leads to an error.
Support says the problem has been solved. Can anyone confirm that it works for them now?
Open CrossOver: If it's not already running, start CrossOver.
Quit the Battle.net client: Make sure the Battle.net client is fully closed.
Locate your Battle.net bottle: In CrossOver, click on the Battle.net bottle.
Access the C: drive: On the right-hand side, under "Bottle Actions", click "Open C: Drive".
Navigate to the Agent folder: Go to */ProgramData/Battle.net/Agent.
Check for agent versions: You should see two folders: Agent.8916 and Agent.8988. If you don't, you'll need to obtain the older version (8916) from someone else.
Open the folder in Terminal: Go back one level to the Battle.net folder, right-click the "Agent" folder, and from the popup menu select "Services > New Terminal at Folder". (The Services submenu is near the bottom of the popup menu that appears when right-clicking the folder.)
Delete the broken version: Run the following command in Terminal: rm -r Agent.8988 Or just delete it using the Finder. (Don't worry - if anything goes wrong, the client will re-download it)
Create an empty placeholder file: Run the following command in Terminal: touch Agent.8988
Make file immutable: Run the following command in Terminal: chflags uchg Agent.8988 To undo this later, when CrossOver implements a fix, run the following command in Terminal: chflags nouchg Agent.8988 to remove the flag and allow overwriting the file. Or just delete it using the Finder.
Launch the Battle.net client: Open the client from the Battle.net bottle.
Click "Update" on your game and enjoy it :)
If you do not have an Agent.8916 folder in your */Bottles/Diablo II Resurrected/drive_c/ProgramData/Battle.net/Agent folder, you can download it from my Dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zvvvwiljayulalmd4hshu/Agent.8916.zip?rlkey=vggsm57f0b7v118rwwp2u4l16&dl=0
Please note that I am just some rando on the Internet and it is not safe to download and install software directly from people like me. But there it is if you want to risk it. Also note that Codeweavers might not approve of me making that folder available and so might edit or delete this message, in which case I will delete it from my Dropbox and not attempt to share it again.
I paid for an upgrade and downloaded the patch but alas, I'm still gettin the same error. I deleted Diablo 4 and trying to reinstall but it errors out at around 20 percent downloaded. I just ran the terminal steps with the old agent file...will see how that goes.
The agent file thing worked as far as getting battle net to launch and install diablo 4 properly - but now I'm getting an error because diablo 4 says it needs an update.
I've gone through the process twice now - and I always end up getting the game installed and ready to play but then it tries to update and I get
"An internal error occurred. Please wait a few moments and try again. If this error continues, try restarting the Battle.net desktop app.Error Code: BLZBNTAGT00001398"
First of all, a mighty THANK YOU to you and all the people who have been posting workarounds to both reddit and this forum. The help is much appreciated.
I am running Crossover+Diablo4 on my new M4 Pro Macbook Pro running Sequoia and.As i only got it set up yesterday I know it is clean :)
Hours after going through all the possible fixes suggested by everyone (and using the updated version of Crossover) this replacement of the Agent file finally worked. Yee haw. But what a mess. You would think that Blizzard would be motivated to have this fixed, as it gives them a whole market they don't have to support ! But urk. I look forward to the next Crossover fix. Please everyone send them your log files and work with them in trying to fix things rather than berating them in the forums.
So using v24.0.6 works right out of the box for me. Using Macbook Pro with M4pro and latest Sequoia.
So i can confirm it does work (for some) - i am pretty sure these gifted Codeweavers will also address the issue that some users are experiencing.
So keep submitting those bug reports in case next time i'm not that lucky ;)
Also - some people should really check their manners when writing posts.
You pay for software - not the right to insult developers or people in general.
Software is difficult - so many different versions of Software combined with Hardware causes an infinite number of combinations and issues.
For what it's worth - I updated my M2 Ultra to Sequoia and I'm still getting the 840 error. Running CrossOver 24.0.6 which I had to pay to update. If I run the terminal method listed in this thread and on reddit - the game will say "Play" - when i click it it says "playing now" but then switches to "update" and then i get an error "Error Code: BLZBNTAGT00001398"
Or I get a pop up saying the application unexpectedly quit.
So nothings much working for me right now.
Update: I wiped the bottle and tried to reinstall fresh but now I get the 840 error during the install itself and can't actually install battle.net anymore. Yay
I've tried so many thing.... Nothing is working.. And i receive a mail for help the developers to identify the problem.. But it's to hard to do. i cant instal the soft they told me... i'm totally lost
No, I can't make it work either. I'm just being patient and waiting. I know that a new season started and it would be nice to get going on it but these things happen. We can't control Blizz's updates or whatever they do to patches. Codeweavers does its best to keep up but they get thrown curveballs like this often (not just Diablo) and the only thing WE can do is wait.
Yeah I'm waiting too. On an m3 mbp max. I tried the steam version but it crashes on launch from there too for some reason even though it doesn't use battle net. I love being able to play on my mac though so until then I'll just play some of the other options I got rotating.
Just a heads up watch your heat in that Model Mac, I had the same model, and playing D4 the system fans didn't come on and it would overheat. I had Apple Care they had to send me an entirely new system due to the logic board being slagged.
I contacted Codeweavers about this and I got a personal response from the CEO who did some research on this and it's a known design flaw with the M3's, heat... I use a program called TG Pro it's a cheap bit of software that you can monitor every aspect of your system for heat problems. You can even turn all the fans up to high (but don't do that too often you wear the bearings down quicker than they should be. I'm sure that will take a while) It boiled down to the system fans not coming on when they should be. I had a few back-and-forths with the CEO and he sent me links about this issue. I sold my new M3 they sent me and bought an M4 Pro Max haven't had any overheating problems and this was when D IV was working. Civ VI always makes the fan go even when I had an Alienware just to game with it would come on like a jet engine. That game taxes the heating system. But the M4 handles it with no problem.
Just want you to know to watch your system heat, if you don't get the TG Pro feel the top of your keyboard under the monitor when it gets too hot stop playing! It is all based on my experiences and the help I got from Codeweavers. I guess this is a warning for anyone with an M3 Max. Stay safe with that model and if you have Apple Care you may have to use it. But hey it also depends on the settings you use. I used maxed and it played perfectly! Just a bit on the hot side as I learned. LOL
also notice that a bid on my 16" M3 Max.
But it seams that the after some time, the temp was stable to play.
Did you had this issue with 14" or 16" Modell?
Same was for POE2 and BG3.
TG Pro is very usefull here!!!

Hello 14in model but it from what I gathered it hit both models. Just keep a glance at TG every now and again if you are running in the red for to long ya might want to take a break :)
If you're a BetterTester, there's a build with a fix up in the beta center. Please give it a spin this weekend and let us know how it's working for you!
How about a refund from the gifted Codeweavers team? Spending over $100 and being told to just deal with it doesn't seem ethical. It's working for maybe half of us, thats not exactly a victory. Sorry if this hurts anyone's feelings, we lost money and time, maybe some sympathy and compassion for your customers is warranted. Refund my 1yr subscription otherwise you're coming off as scammers. I'm new to Crossover and so far it feels like a scam that cost me hard earned money. Hope this isn't too harsh for the gaming community lol.

First Try was not sucessfull.
Lets try a fresh installation of D4...
Tried on the Better Test version with both my existing install and a fresh install, both have similar errors following an "update" to Diablo IV. Any tips on making it work? Thanks!
Did you try deleting the old version of Crossover? I did that using "Appcleaner" and it wipes it all out to my knowledge it's a free app. This way you'll have a completely clean copy of the better tester version installed. Give it a whirl maybe it'll work. It worked for me :)

Fresh Installation made it, now it works again.
Thank you.
I tried deleting Crossover altogether and reinstalling everything – still no joy. How did you install Battle.net? Manually, or automatically through Crossover? Automatically doesn't seem to work. On an M4, Sequoia 15.2.
I have an MBP Max M4 myself and I used the crosstie to install battle.net and it barely even got stuck at the dreaded 45%. I have it installed now and that false flag update isn't going on either. I'm also on Sequoia 15.2.
I did NOT use the D IV crosstie I've never had luck with that. Just crosstie B.net and then install D IV in there. I wish I had some other method for you :( But that's all I did and I'm up and running.
Tried on the Better Test version with both my existing install and a fresh install, both have similar errors following an "update" to Diablo IV. Any tips on making it work? Thanks!

So far so good.. pass battle net and right now installing Diablo Immortal without any problem. Finger cross
the latest bettertester version work like a charms. Just painfull to redownload the diablo series all over again. Anyway good work CodeWeavers team! Now if only I can have my rivals working too (will open a new thread for this problem)
I'm on the latest . What's bettertester ?? dont know this.
Btw i download the Update on diablo 4 and at the end.. The error is about space. Tell me that there is not enough space or something like that.
if this can help the dev.. dont know.
Not sure if this helps or not – it's throwing up this message now as well, instead of an error code.
That error message should do away if you enable D3DMetal + Esync or Msync.
Best,
Meredith
