Hello! I'm using Crossover for Mac to play Diablo 4 on a 2023 MacBook Pro 16-inch with M2 Pro and 16 gb of RAM, running Sequoia 15.2. The game looks and runs amazing but sometimes after 30 minutes of gameplay on average and mostly when I travel from city to another or when I go back to town, there's a a huge lag spike making the game unplayable and I have to quit and reopen it.

As a more clear example, let's say I'm running several pit runs and I go back to town, after the loading screen I start experiencing this terrible lag that doesn't even allow me to walk and I quit the game.

My settings on D4 are pretty much on high but I've seen this issue also affects low graphic settings so it can't be anything related to them (right?). And The settings I have on Crossover are D3DMetal and Esync enabled, no High Res mode on. I've also tried it with Msync on but same thing happens. I also tried disabling Cross Network in-game and it still happens. Sometimes the game sessions last longer than others but most of the time I can play it with no problem at all until this happens. Any solutions please?

I've seen the occasional non-crashing lag spike on an M4 Pro mini with 24g of RAM with the same settings. The game hangs for about a second and then we're back in business. I'm on medium graphics.

So what are your settings or recommendations?

I have the same issue with Diablo 4. It's the same with the current preview of Crossover (20th Dec).
I can confirm that using town portal seems to "accelerate" the issue and that ESync seems to work better. Until now I haven't found the magic settings as well.

Have you found a solution to this? I thought I did because it stopped doing it for a while yesterday but today it started doing it again more frequently and I haven't changed settings.

Did you get it to work? Mine doesn't even start. I always get "This application encountered an unexpected error"

For my D4 on an MBP max, 64GB RAM I run the game with the following settings:

Crossover Preview Settings:
Graphics: D3D Metal
Sync: ESync
Hi-Res Graphics: On
Crossover Preview: On

(In all the time I've been playing D4 on Mac D3D/Esync are always the way to go anything else invites lag spides or poor performance)

In Game:
Quality preset: High
Foreground FPS 120 (Make sure this matches your monitor refresh rate if possible seems to have an impact)

I sat here for about 20 min just porting all over the map. I would get some very minor lag spikes coming out of the portal but it would remedy very quickly.
Teleportation nodes: No lag coming from these in my experience yet.

I've not thrown myself into Hell Tide though to push it. I've been taking a small break from the game to play some games I picked up on the Steam Winter Sale.

Not much but if my settings work perhaps you'll have success as well. Just thought I'd share.

Thank you for the response, seems the only way to make this stop for me was playing on windowed mode which I have no problem with. I see your settings and I don't seem to have the option to enable or disable the Crossover Preview, where can I find that?

Hey there sorry for the delayed response. You need to have the Crossover Preview Version. I have no idea if I have permission to post a link or not so I'm going to err on the side of caution and unfortunately not post it. However, you can check in your account under "Preview Center" and you should be able to download it from there :)

I know for me D4 is working just as it should. Keep ray tracing off ;)

Oh ok, so you mean the Preview is the next version 25 as a beta, right? I haven't been able to find it but I don't doubt it'll work better with D4. As I mentioned previously, it stopped doing it as often playing in windowed mode but it still happens sometimes so idk what is causing it. I haven't stopped playing with settings and can't find the best set up.
