i just tried playing Arcanum on M1 Mac, and have issues, linked to loading moments : the game is quite fluid and enjoyable, music are greats, but on many loading moments, the game seems to wait indefinitely long, and I have to tweak through alt+tab on desktop then wait a bit and go back to the game so that the game surpasses these loading bugs. It seems to me that there is only a small tweak that i would need so that the game is plenty fluid, it's as if the game was looking for a CD and could not access it as simply as it should.
With previous crossover versions, the feedback are very goods for Arcanum, I'm not expert in bottles, if you had some ideas i'd be very pleased to make this work :-)
May I ask how you’ve got the game to run to that point? I’ve tried Arcanum on numerous bottles but I never manage to get the game to launch in any way, always throws an error.
I am probably one of the biggest fans of this game in the world, so I spent an hour or so getting it to work on my m1 Mac Studio. Steps to get working:
1) Install the game using Gog installer.
2) Make sure you are updated to 1.0.7.4 (it should be already)
3) Install the Arcanum UAP
4) Open the wine C:\ drive and go to the Gog/arcanum/hires folder; open config.ini
5) Change the line for "renderer" to 1 for hardware, and save the file
6) Use the "run command" to run the file _install.bat it should pop up a wine terminal and close automatically
7) Use the "run command" and use the command: regedit
8) Browse to Current User -> Software -> Wine -> Direct3D (Create Direct3D as a new key if needed)
9) Add new string value to Direct3D called "renderer" and make the value: gdi
10) Close regedit, run the game and profit. Let me know if this doesn't work. But I tested quite a few methods before this worked for me.

EDIT: should be gdi not "idi" .... autocorrect :\
Thanks for trying, but wouldn't work for me. Same as usual, opens and crashes.
Worked it out. Runs fullscreen at same resolution as desktop: 3024x1964. It's not great as everything is so tiny. Running it in a window though, runs perfect. I just have it set to 1280x720 and runs perfect. Each time you update the config.ini you have to re-run _install.bat.
Absolutely must add that registry entry though, without it the game runs janky as hell.
If you mean me, then yes by all means. Happy to help anyone play this classic game.
