Hi,
after upgrading from crossover 21.2 to 22 the Internet Connection is horrible.
before I get a download speed of 10 MB/s
after the update I get alternating 100 kb/s to 7 MB/s and down again to 100 kb/s and so on.
After restoring Crossover from TimeMachine Backup back to 21.2 I get a solid 10 MB/s again.
CrossOver itself wouldn't be doing anything to affect download speed. The only thing I can think of is that CrossOver 21 is forcing Steam to use one type of connection to get around a bug, while we allow Steam to use its default connection type with CrossOver 22.
To continue to force Steam to use this other connection type, you can select the Steam launcher, click "Run with options" in the right sidebar, enter "-udpforce" without the quotation marks in Command-Line Options, and click "Run."
If this works better for you, I would guess that there's some local connection issue at play, since we haven't seen any download speed difference ourselves or heard other reports like this. Please also note that Valve is planning on eventually dropping support for these connection types, which is why we no longer force it on CrossOver 22.
Best,
Meredith
