For some reason, when opening Steam Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings, no text is displayed on the buttons.
My Xbox Controller is paired with my Mac, and the "Game Controllers" item within the Steam bottle seems to recognize it, but when I launched my game it was still using keyboard controls. I believe I need to enable the controller in the Steam app settings.
Could it be a missing font or something? Has anyone seen this before?

I'm having the same problem. I haven't found any workaround yet.
I found an issue filed for the Steam for Linux client with the exact same behavior:

I'm following that issue in the hope that a fix or workaround will be posted that help us.
