crossover games not recognizing the install disc

i am on a newly purchased macbook pro 15"
using ver 7.1.1 of crossover games
trying to install warcraft 3: reign of chaos
my cd is legitimate, when i insert the cd crossover games does not recognize it and if i go to select the cd as the installation directory it does not install properly.
no error is displayed.
however, i can install the game by using the autoinstall included in the cd, it just doesnt work with mac :(

this mac is osx ver 10.5.7
2.66ghz intel core2duo

it is definitely not a problem with the disc drive, it reads other dvd/cd properly
thanks in advance

MacOS does not allow direct SCSI access to cd drive, but many windows copy protection systems want it. So they fail and say they don't recognise the disk. The Mac version of Warcraft does not do this because it is built to cope with the MacOS limitation.

I recommend to install the official Warcraft 3 updates. One of the(at least for The Frozen Throne) removes the copy protection.(ie, an official NOCD patch provided by Blizzard. Nice!)

i previously installed warcraft 3 on a 15" macbook (it was my friends i dont know the specs, it was osx tho) so i know for sure that wc3 can be installed through crossover games
i just dont know why it would recognize the cd on the macbook but not the macbook pro
unless there is an issue that arises with the macbook pro os... or possibly a firmware issue?

when i installed it on my friend's macbook it was simple -> create new bottle, insert cd, install. just how it should be

Could the disc be a hybrid Mac/Windows disc? If so, when it's mounted on a Mac, all of the Windows-specific files (.exe files, etc.) would be absent. There's a trick that can be used to mount the Windows side of the hybrid. Search our site for "cd9660".
