Been playing The Witcher 3 without any major hick ups for the past couple months.
Yesterday steam forced me to download the new next gen update. Now the game doesn't start anymore and I am getting this error: https://imgur.com/a/fWrP2t4
After waiting for approx 10 seconds, the screen turns black and stays like that for another 5 seconds to then return to the desktop.
The fact the DXVK slider is deactivated means that I used a custom dxvk... right? I remember that I fiddled around with different versions, because back then I thought I had to replace the old files with newer ones for better performance.
However, I've been playing like this nicely. Just my external monitor (hdmi) causes regular freezes during the game, but that's a different chapter for a different time I guess.
System:
MacBook Air 2020
Monterey 12.6
Is anyone getting the same error after the next gen update?
I have never played The Witcher 3 but when I’ve seen that message with other applications the solution that has worked nearly 100% of the time has been to create a new bottle. You can use the Finder to copy your game’s files into the new bottle to save time downloading a large game, or you can keep your old bottle and create a launcher with your new bottle, or reinstall into your new bottle.

Thanks for your post.
How do I create a launcher with a new bottle and link that with the old bottle?
Even if I wanted to link the new bottle with the old bottle I couldn't, because upon clicking "open c: drive" I cannot find the game inside "/steamapps". Although via finder I do find the game folder. Why is that?
When I click "install" it seems there is no way to just create launcher without installing the game files into it. The only way to create an empty bottle seems to be by cancelling the installation... is that the right way?
