I'm currently running a Macbook Pro (2021), M1 Max, with 32GB of memory. Monterey 12.3.1.
I've installed Crossover v22 and installed Steam, Window 7, 64-bit. Then installed DirectX into the bottle.
Installing the GOTY edition of Fallout 4 (So all the DLC and enhanced textures) worked without a problem. I've applied all the fixes I could find:
- added
bBackgroundMouse=1
to the fallout.ini - added the 4 audio libraries
- Turned on ESync and DXVK
I can get as far as the initial "Play" screen. It tries to detect hardware but fails (expected). So I just click on "Low" to have a baseline of quality.
But nothing seems to work correctly...
- The 16:9 Widescreen only has 3 options: 800x450, 1280x720, and 1440x810. From the how-to video, it looks like there should be a lot more options
- I click "Play" and I get a windows black screen for a couple of seconds and then the whole thing crashes.
I've tried turning off "Windowed Mode" and still get a windowed box that crashes. When I try again, the "Windowed Mode" is checked and greyed, as if I cannot change it, and the "Borderless" is checked. All of the Resolution options are gone from the dropdown (which makes sense since it should just play at whatever my resolution is, but it's weird that it's still a dropdown).
I've tried turning ESync off and running again with the same results. I've tried removing the extra audio drivers and it still crashes. I've tried running and capturing logs, but no logs appear.
However, when I put all the settings back to normal and try Skyrim, it seems to work fine (haven't even made it through the first cut scene, but I just wanted to make sure Crossover worked at all).
Any ideas on why I'm getting so many issues with Fallout 4?
