I'm currently trying to use CrossOver to run steam, but running into a problem every time I open it. I downloaded Steam directly through CrossOver platform and tried with multiple bottles.
"The program steamwebhelper.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

Did you get any error messages during the install process? Do you happen to be running any antivirus software?

Sounds like the Steam hack failed and 64Bit CEF got launched.
I had a similar problem, I think you just can't run the crossover steam with your mac steam open. My crossover steam started working once I quit my macOS steam.
