File names with special characters are not shown correctly

Hello to all!!!

I have a problem with file names containing spanish or german special characters. On Linux the file names are shown with question marks and cannot be renamed or deleted. On eg Word 2010 (using the latest Crossover) the file can be opened and saved, but it's impossible to print. File names without these special characters can be printed, renamed and removed. Some ideas how to solve this? Of course I could try to use file names without special characters, but sometimes that happen. But the biggest problem is not being possible to rename them.

Regards

Miguel

Hello, have you tried the iconv Linux command? If I am not mistaken, it will convert from one character encoding to another. I remember using it many years ago, because I used to have some files with Portuguese-Brasil accentuation... Anyway, I decided to never use accents or special characters in my file names, again... 😋 Yeah, I know, the problem is that other people will always create file names with accents...

Another suggestion is to install some File Manager for Windows with Crossover and try to rename the files.

Good luck!
