Codeweavers Games examples.

Ok. This is a great concept and I'm liking it so far. However, having World of Warcraft being an example of a Crossover game is a really bad example. Why you may ask. well, WoW is already compatible for mac. It is already a Win|Mac application so there is no need to use this program to run WoW. I know I sound like I'm repeating myself, but it's true. I think this needs to be addressed so there is no issue with running the program when it can originally run on mac's with no assistance.

I'm not positive on the history but I'm pretty sure Wine and Crossover started on Linux and there isn't a linux version of the game. Mac came afterwards but that doesn't mean the game is a bad example for us Linux users. Maybe it just needs a footnote advising Mac owners that they have access to a native version.

If you look at the number of penguins in the rankings, you could
possibly construe that this is already known (-B

OK so one of the officially supported games has a native version on one of the officially supported platforms, that is 100% true. WoW is also the most popular MMO out there at the moment, so it is a big selling point to have it working on all the supported platforms.

From the sound of it you have a Mac, so using CXG to run WoW is pointless, countless other CXG owners have Linux as their OS, there is no official Linux version of WoW so something like CXG is needed. Wine (which CXG is a polished up version of) did start out purely on Linux based systems. Using your argument why should they have started to support another OS (OS X)? Try to see the bigger picture beyond your small portion of the world, to do otherwise is rather selfish IMHO.

Indeed...the converse is also true too...ie; there are those titles
in the compatibility database for which there are native linux versions,
but no native Mac port - then you might use crossover. Then, there are
those app/games for which working ports exist for win32/Mac/linux/other
platforms, and here crossover allows you to use the most up to date/best
maintained port, which may happen to be the win32 version. Rule of thumb
is, where there is perceived to be a need/use to employ crossover to run
a game/app, it's in the database. Otherwise it's not, and it's more or less
considered 'common sense' that when you go to buy a piece of software, you
naturally check if a version for your OS of choice is available first - this
goes without saying, perhaps this is why it is unsaid here?

All app/game entries here are treated equally - there is no such use of
terms like 'this will only interest Mac users' or 'this will only interest
linux users' ; that's not how it works - regardless of which OS/platform
you're using what windows software with via crossover/wine, the relative
knowledge and experience gained helps result in a better and more matured
crossover/wine, for all crossover/wine users, regardless of their OS/platform
of choice - it's very non-OScentric here, it's a nice productive place as
a result of that....
