Buy an M1 Max Studio with 24 or 32 cores. Sensible or No?

Greets All,

Using M1 8/512. Thinking of getting a refurb'd Studio with 24 or 32 cores. Using 22.1.1 on 3 games and testing nightlies.

Should I be looking at an M2 config or go with the Studio and highest number of GPU cores..or is 24 "future proof" enough?

Thank you for any ideas or critiques.. Best Regards and Best Wishes!

MODS: Apologies if in wrong forum. Please move or lock and tell me where to post and I will fix. Thanks!

I'd go max cores and max possible Ram if money aint a problem,...if its either that vs a baseline M2.

Third option if you are not in a hurry is wait for M3 to come...

Thanks for taking time to comment. Been trying to find out if 24 cores would be enough/equal to a modern card. Looks like against a 4090 straight GFlops are about 10 vs 80, w/ advantage to the dedicated card. But hoping drivers and the memory bandwidth advantage would help. Maybe keep my power dry a few months longer.

Thanks again!

If money is not a problem I would go with 32 cores. But I think the best bang for your buck is the M2 Pro Mac Mini.
