Hi all, new to gaming on a mac with crossover and was loving it until I hit a crash in Nier: Replicant I can't overcome! I'm not a coder or super versed in digging through PC guts, and am even more clueless on how to troubleshoot this through the compartmentalization that Crossover provides... would love some help in how to address this.
This is apparently a known issue as there are other threads about this but I've received no response so trying here. Screen goes black at the start of a particular cutscene (and also in the title card of the game if you linger at Start) and nothing happens. I tried a bunch of stuff like switching between Windows 7 and 10, replacing the mshtmlmedia.dll, reducing fps lauch, limiting screen refresh rate... not sure what else I can try on a virtual machine. Anyone else run into this? The game has been out almost two years now and I cannot imagine this hasn't been addressed yet. Would be so grateful for the help or I'll have to return the game completely, it's entirely unplayable this way. Thanks so much!
According to the information I'd seen on a Proton issue this game requires;
d3dcompiler_47
media foundation (wmv2)
Xaudio2
Sounds like you've hit a video that's causing the black screen/crash you've seen.
