Recently I moved on macos and tried to install steam, because I had windows only games in my library I downloaded CrossOver.
After downloading steam I launched it but when it finished with installing updates it just closed. I opened steam again, it let me log in and after logging in it crashed. The only version of steam that is working is the official macos steam client.
I saw that someone had the same problem here, but when I followed the steps it didin't work.
Can anyone help me?
What version of Mac are you running? It seems like CrossOver tends to break every time a new macOS update is released. If you're running the newest version you may just have to wait until an update is released.
Just to confirm, I am also having this issue, but I think its a Steam Client update that broke everything because I also use Porting Kit, Wineskin Wrapper, and native Wine and its broken on all 4. Ether can't load the login screen or immediately crashes when it does sign in.
Ventura 13.3.1
Crossover Version 22.1.1 (22.1.1.35679)
Tried recreating the bottle, playing with settings, using another user account - all failed.
I'm fairly certain that it's an issue with macOS. I'm currently still running Ventura 13.3 and I've had no issues, but I'm not an expert, so I can't be sure. Hopefully someone from the CodeWeavers team will see this. In the meantime, it might be a good idea to contact support.
This was happening for me too. I updated to MacOS 13.3 and it solved the problem.
I can’t comment on MacOS 13.3.1.
The other problem I found was with an external monitor connected. It changed my screen resolution and then Steam crashed after login. I fiddled with the display settings and Steam stopped crashing. You could try experimenting with different resolutions. Weird, I know, but it worked.
