I have just bought Mass Effect LE for Steam and desperately trying to get it to run.

I have installed everything, but it won't start. It just stops. I have tried the alternative launcher (https://www.applegamingwiki.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_Legendary_Edition#Won.27t_launch_in_CrossOver) as well as installing origin (after it was uninstalled due to an update to EA Play).

• Origin launcher is unusable as it shows a non-dismissable popup about the update to EA play launcher
• EA play launcher does not start with the "QTWebEngineProcess.exe error / EA Play starting error" (https://www.applegamingwiki.com/wiki/Mass_Effect_Legendary_Edition#Won.27t_launch_in_CrossOver_on_Steam_Client)
• The game itself does not start in steam (button switches from started back to started after some seconds)

Any tips would be highly appreciated!!

I have found a workaround

1. Create a fresh bottle Win7, 64Bit
2. Install origin via default installation method (right click bottle, select install software into bottle)
3. Follow installation and login until you hit the infamous non-dismissible EA Play pop up inside origin
4. Kill Origin (either via Crossover task manager or shut down whole bottle)
5. Locate the file ProgramData\Origin\local.xml (Right click bottle -> open drive C: -> go into the bottle folder -> go into drive_c folder -> go into the forementioned path -> open local.xml in any text editor
6. Add the following line <Setting key="MigrationDisabled" type="1" value="true"/> at the end of the file, but before </Settings>
7. Launch Origin, it should now be fine, no EA play launcher
8. To be sure, disable automatic updates of the launcher in its settings
9. Install steam via default installation method ((right click bottle, select install software into bottle)
10. Install ME:LE with Steam
11. Follow installation, BUT DO NOT INSTALL EA PLAY, Skip its installation
12. Connect EA Play account with Steam, ideally by logging in into eaplay with your steam account
13. Start Origin launcher.
14. Start ME:LE (and here, always simply skip the EA Play installation)
15. Enjoy ME:LE

If you are still having problems

• Make your computer offline
• Start origin
• Login into offline mode in Origin
• Go back online with your mac
• In Origin select "Origin -> Go Online"
• Login again
• Enjoy Origin games
