Usually, it's just easiest to let CrossOver Games download Steam for you. Initiate CrossOver's Software Installer, select the "Steam via download" package from the list, ask CrossOver to create a new bottle for the installation, and just let it proceed through the steps. CrossOver will download and install some prerequisites and then Steam itself.
I'm not sure if you're using a Mac. Your mention of the dock suggests maybe you are, but the penguins you've chosen for an avatar suggest you're a Linux user. If you're on a Mac, after the Steam installation completes, CrossOver will create a launcher mini-application for Steam. By default, it will reveal this mini-application in the Finder. It's created in <your home folder>/Applications/CrossOver Games. You can drag it to the Dock, if you like.
Okay thanks you and I use a mac. I didn't know penguins represented linux I just like penguins :)
Heh. No problem. You should keep the penguins if you like them. It's not like a rule or anything. 😀
Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
