Question regarding graphical card and CXgames, and Xmas wish .

Hello everyone

Frist of all, let me apologize for the weird english, I'm french )
I hope this is the right place to ask those few questions .

First question: regarding CXgames and graphical card.

I am running the 8.1.3 version of CXgames on a mac book pro, NVIDIA 9600 MGT , OS 10.6.2.
I was wondering if the graphical card's ventilation was correctly taken in charge through the crossover process, I'll try to explain this right :
For instance, when running torchlight on it (and very smoothly by the way, thank you again for that ^^) my mac's temperature is just rising completely insanely, as if ventilation was not working properly.
I know that this mac book pro generation does have an issue regarding heat and battery; but could there be any relation with crossover while running a demanding game ?

Second question: I have a wish for Xmas ))

Are you working on bringing compatibility for dawn of war 2 ^^?
I wouldn't even think about bootcamping if you'd manage to do that (and blood bowl by the way, but one wish is enough and quite hard to be granted...).
TF2, L4D2, DOW2 and Blood Bowl , my pleasure would be complete )

Thank you again for that brilliant little crossovergames, keep up the good work, waiting for an answer and merry Xmas !

I'll take a stab at your first question. I have a MacBook Pro with Nvidia card and it'll definitely heat up when you run any graphics intensive app. It seems like it takes a long time before the fan will kick in. It isn't specific to Crossover but any graphics intensive app I run.

There are a number of MAC OSX apps that lets you control the fan speed on the MacBook Pro.

With my older MacBook Pro and ATI card, it was the exact opposite in the sense, the fan would never shut off 😊

Thank you my friend, now I m still waiting for an answer for my second question...)

Wh...what....? SANTA DOES NOT EXIST ???? "epic crash of my mac and noises of domestical damages"

CrossOver makes no effort to manage or manipulate the system fans in any way, but neither do any other applications (other than those whose specific purpose is managing the fans). The hardware and the OS are supposed to manage cooling without making the applications responsible for it.

Nothing that CrossOver does should interfere with cooling, either. The OS should not allow it. In general, the OS is in charge of applications, not the other way around. If something that CrossOver is doing is somehow interfering with cooling, then that's a bug in the OS that should be taken up with Apple. (Of course, if there were something simple we could do to avoid the hypothetical bug, then we'd happily do so.)

Okay...I'll field the second question -- I've just updated the forum
for DOW2 with the current/relevant information ... see the bottom of;

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=5349;forum=1;msg=56391

Short answer -- support for these sorts of titles should/may become apparent
sometime in the future....

Cheers!

I didin't know santa looked like a penguin, that's a beautiful information here )

Thank you Ken for your answer it reassures me (well...maybe not about the mac book pro but that's another debate), you may consider the question resolved and lock the topic if you want.

See you on my other topic I hope
