Obscure problem with TF2 and the WAR! Update
Anonymous

Hi.

I finally have time to play TF2 again, and I'm having trouble. And by trouble, I mean my computer is crashing and I can't get past the main screen.

I launch the game normally(with the -dxlevel81 launch option, because I have a last-gen iMac, so it's the best I can do), and I get the Valve logo screen, then the source logo, then the loading screen. It finishes loading, then turns the screen white. Afterwards, it minimizes to my dock, where it shows as an invisible window. And the music continues to play. Any ideas?

What CXGames version are you using? I know I currently have an [=ASC]open ticket](http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=774370;layout=user_tickets;sort[status) regarding TF2 crashing out for myself on CXGames 8.1.3/8.1.4 - If you are using one of these try downloading one of the older versions and see if it resolves the issue - I know it does for me.

It sounds like you removed the "-novid" launch option, which should normally be there. I don't know if that's the cause of the problem, though. You should try passing launch options to specify the display mode and resolution: -window or -fullscreen and then -width <some number> -height <some number>.

Also, you should only pass the -dxlevel 81 option once and then remove that from your launch options. The game will remember the last level you specified. The reason to remove it is that it forces the game to ignore any saved video settings.
