WoW auto-updated to patch 3.3 this afternoon, and now I am unable to log-in to the game. I receive an error regarding a Visual C++ library.
Here's the error text:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error !
Program C:\wow\Wow.exe
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
I ran the WoW repair tool and the problem persists. Any ideas how to fix this?
Confirmed, this is happening internally. We are looking into it.
Great..be sure to post somewhere what you find out in relation to R6034 please
Jeremy - there are a number of titles encountering the same error, sometimes
.NET 2.0 fixes it but not always...is there a ticket/bug for R6034 errors? If
there is, please add me to it...
hmm, I tried installing the C++ 2005 redistributable as per the suggestion above, but it fails:
Error creating process <msiexec /i vcredist.msi>. Reason: module not found.
Just for the hell of it, I also tried installing both the 6.0 and the 2008 redistributables - both installed just fine, but neither fixed the runtime error thrown up when trying to log into WoW.
It will -need- to be C++ 2005 redistributable to work (the other C++ versions are different).
The Microsoft C++ 2005 redistributable should install correctly using the crossoverwizard
install target for this dependency (show all service packs and dependencies)

That's what I did, but it failed to install for me.
I put the redistributable from Microsoft on a shared network drive on a Windows XP box and used 7-zip there to get the .msi and .cab files from it, then copied these two files back to my Linux box; using CrossOver Games to install the Microsoft C++ Redistributable (spelling?), with the Microsoft download, the .msi and .cab in the same folder, the Runtime Library installed in the same bottle that I installed Lich King on.
Lich King still fails with the R6034 error. Had the problem in Wine first, bought a copy of CrossOver Games, having the exact same problem.
That's what I did, but it failed to install for me.
cheers,
b.
That's anomalous - it should have worked ; can you create a new bottle
and retry this operation?...ie; just try installing C++ 2005 redistributable
into a new bottle -- if this doesn't work, something is wrong...
Cheers!
edit: note also, the following comments wrt the crossover-games 8.1.4 release;
What is fixed:
Left4Dead 2 - Incomplete Installation (2) & the Crash to Desktop on loading
Guild Wars - The inability to run on ATI Macs
New installs of World of Warcraft
Known issues:
World of Warcraft is not working properly:
Please work around by installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package into the WoW bottle
(a new install of WoW should work fine with this release)
If you cannot install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package into an existing WoW bottle,
using COG 8.1.3/8.1.4 you should probably send an email to info@codeweavers.com alerting them of the issue.
