Hi all! I have just bought a MacBook Pro M1, after being a lifelong Windows user. I make music on my computer, and have a collection of VST plug ins which I use to do so(software instruments and effects for use in a DAW such as Ableton, Logic).
A few of my favourite VSTs are 32-bit, and on my 64-bit Windows operating system I was able to use them thanks to software called jBridge. I have heard that Mac M1 does not support 32 bit software at all, however I recently learned about CrossOver.
1) Could anyone tell me if it's possible for me to use CrossOver, in order to use jBridge, in order to made use of my 32-bit VSTs in Ableton Live?! Bit of a long winded approach!
2) If it is possible, and if anyone has experience of doing so, please let me know how this can be set up in CrossOver
I have no experience with the software you are attempting to run on your Mac with Crossover. However, Crossover includes a 32-bit to 64-bit conversion layer for 32-bit Windows executables. The lack of 32-bit application support in versions of MacOS from 10.15 Catalina forward will have no impact on your ability to run your application.
That doesn’t mean it will run, there could be some other reason it won’t work. But the lack of OS-level 32-bit support will not be that reason.
Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
