Java Runtime Environment x64 fails to install

CrossOver 23.0.0
Windows 11 Bottle
When creating the new bottle there is no option to install JRE x64 (only Java 7).
Offline installer fails although shortcuts are created
Is there any other way to install JRE x64 in a CrossOver bottle?

Same issue with CrossOver 23.5.0

I can't help with this specific issue. However, if you want to run Java applications, is there some reason to not run the Java runtime environment for Mac?

Hi John

IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles includes a dynamic campaign generator that requires Java Runtime Environment x64, so I would need to add the JRE to the Windows 11 bottle I'd created for the game to be able to take advantage of this feature.

Ah, I see. You have a Windows application that wants to call a Java app as a co-process.

I recall reading that x64 JRE will install and run in Crossover using a Windows 8 bottle. Will your game run in a Windows 8 bottle? If so, that might be worth a try.

I appreciate your help, John, but I'm afraid that when attempting to install JRE8 x64 (jre-8u381-windows-x64) into a Windows 8 x64 Bottle I'd created by initially installing IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles, the Java Runtime Environment installation again failed to complete, although program icons were created. I've been forced to continue running this aviation simulator in Parallels Desktop 19.0, but I would much prefer CrossOver as a host and will continue to test following each update. On a previously owned MacBook Pro 16" Intel model, along with an external GPU, IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles ran smoothly, but since the move to Apple silicon I've not had any success, even after reporting the issue while still a member of the CrossOver Beta program.

By the way, I noted in the VMware Fusion Tech Preview 2023 forum that there's hope for DirectX 12 support in Windows 11 ARM guest virtual machines when the final release of VMware Fusion becomes available sometime this year, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we may have another alternative solution soon for Windows gaming with Apple silicon.
