Not enough disk space issue in Steam on Mac M1

Basically, Exactly what has happened to this guy:

"I'm just trying Crossover for running games through Steam on a Mac M1.

Installing was straight forward but I needed to remove a couple of games from my native Steam to make space. However, after doing this I don't see any difference in the amount of space available under Crossover (it's as though this disk space is still being used).

I've tried:

Reinstalling steam.
Reinstalling crossover.
Deleting more than necessary.
Nothing has worked. I'm aware that I need to empty trash and my Storage overview under "About this Mac" reports more than enough free space."

Except what fixed it for him, has not worked for me. I have tried the time machine stuff, nothing has worked. Ive tried rebooting, everything. Please, any help would help!

I had a similar issue but it was with Crossover and Battlenet not reading my available disk space. For me it was because of all the purgeable space being read by either Crossover or Battlenet as unavailable space instead of free space. Perhaps check and see if that is your issue. Apparently my iMac was not removing the purgeable space as often as it was supposed to.

Do you use Time Machine?
If so it is possible that deleted items are still in the local Time Machine cache until the next backup is finished.

Also check: System Settings>General>Storage>Documents(the INFO on the right)>File Browser and see if the Files are still in the default directory "/Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/Crossover (Games)/Bottles".

Hi there,
I have the same issue: plenty of free space on my SSD. It says always only about 60 GB are free. (GTA 5 needs 100+). I never used Time Machine. I checked the folders etc. THERE IS FREE SPACE...it is really annoying...I tried it for hours now.
Is there any other solution? I also tried an external SSD...however, I could address it.
All the best,
M

Try deleting your local snapshots:

Thanks Ade. I would love to do it. As mentioned, I never used Time Machine on this Mac. So there are not local snapshots.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I've contacted Codeweavers and we'll see if they get back to me . . .

While I normally don't like to advertise other software this one isn't for what crossover doesn't do. Clean my Mac X or the new version to clear purgable space. It works great and has solved a lot of what you are experiencing. I was a beta tester for the latest version and it still did what I needed it to do. I have two licenses for version X one on my M3 mbpro max and one on my m1 mini server. The software cleans up all sorts of things and can also purge and shrink your time machine backups.

I think the price is fair for what it does. But I had a problem with purgable space until I called Apple and got tier 2 support and they gave me a command for terminal a few years back but it doesn't work anymore.

Just trying to help out.
