I'm new to CrossOver games. It was working really well for me with Portal and TF2, so I decided to try Mass Effect. The mouse didn't work. I messed around with trying to build my on DLL replacements, but ended up using the pre-compiled ones (http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=4403;tips=1).
Mass Effect starting working fine. I then worked on importing my existing save games and accidentally ran the program twice. I got a box that said something to the effect of "The program is already running." I wasn't able to close the box because the mouse kept moving to the other side of the screen when I tried to click OK.
Then I decided to restart my system.
Now none of the game I've installed work. I can hear the sound, sometimes shuddery and a little garbled, but there is no video part. I see the connection to steam account and preparing to launch game. There isn't a game window or anything. No bar at the bottom, nothing. Any idea why it would go from working great to not working at all after a reboot?
Oh, and I had to fix the xorg.conf file because it wasn't saving the config settings for my dual monitors, not sure if that would have an effect
Well, I tried uninstalling (both from my user and then from root like the instructions said), then rebooted my computer then reinstalled CrossOver games.
Still no video. Steam works just fine, installers work just fine, but when it comes to displaying a game, still nothing.
Difficult to say given the description of your problem. Best idea
is to possibly generate a debuglog of what's going on and then uploading
that log to rapidshare or the like, and post the URL back here so other can
grab the log and see if anything obvious stands out..;
Either of these commands should start Steam, then launch a game giving you problems, once
it fails, quit Steam. Gzip the file debug.log in your homedir and upload it to a public
repo as I say above..
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I tested TF2.
Here is what you asked for:
$ /opt/cxgames/bin/wine --bottle winxp --cx-log ~/debug.log --debugmsg +tid,+seh,+trace --cx-app steam

I ran steam, launched TF2, had stuttering audio, no video. Tried to close it with right-click, exit on the steam icon, it didn't close. I then went to Applications > Corssover Games > Terminate Windows Applications and reset.
I tried running Portal with -windowed and it launched OK. When I put it back using -fullscreen the video disappeared again. I guess windowed would work, but full screen was working before and I'd like it back. Also, I'm not sure that non-Source games (DA:O, Mass Effect) would respond to a -windowed switch in steam.
