Diablo 2 Resurrected on Sonoma

I am using a 16" MBP M2 Max with Sonoma. I have been able to get this to run with none of the toggles on (no esync, no gfx toggles.) However, I was wanting to try it using D3D Metal. However when I do, I only get a hung black screen.

EDIT: I thought I had to install something along side Crossover, but I found that is not the case. I still can't use D3D Metal though. But the game does work without it, although performance is hit or miss.

I managed to install Diablo 2 Resurrected on CrossOver 23.5 like this:

  • do not use the template for installing Diablo 2 Resurrected
  • use the template for installing the Battle net desktop app
  • when it fails at 45%, close the install window, click the blue cancel button
  • kill all battle net and agent processes in activity monitor
  • return to the bottle, enable Esync (important) and after that use the crossover "run command" from the bottle, choose the battle net setup exe (downloaded from the blizzard website)
  • battle net will install correctly now and after logging in, Diablo 2 Resurrected can be installed

For me the performance is better with only Esync enabled (no D3DMetal or DXVK).

I tried your trick (although it didn't fail at 45%.) But after it installed, I did run command and re-ran the installer with e-sync. After that, I was able to use e-sync and D3DMetal. Thanks!
