Any idea why Final Fantasy XVI does not run? I was hoping for a good compatibility, since Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII remake both work very well.
FFX is Luminous Engine, FF7 Remake is Unreal Engine 4, and FF XVI is a new engine developed by square enix.
Hello there. In your explanation of the engines used you sort of answered your own question. If Square is using their own engine you really can’t expect WINE to support it right off the bat if at all.
Remember crossover can’t support every game engine there are so many out there it would be an impossible task. And since WINE is basically the backbone you may want to look up more about compatibility with that in hopes perhaps there is a 3rd party patch that can be worked into crossover somehow but remember codeweavers won’t give you support on something they didn’t develop.
Is there a demo of this game? I’d be happy to try it myself (NOT AN EXPERT). To see if i can help. Also if it’s the latest and greatest game it may not work for sometime. Crossover works great on so many titles but its a combine effort remember thr game wasn’t built to run on MacOS so gotta give some slack to what they are already accomplishing ;) but please point me to a demo if there is one I’d be curious what it does.
Or you could reach out to their support team but they MAY tell you the same thing or who knows maybe they are working on that engine support at this very moment :)
Yes, there's a demo of FF XVI, that's what I tested. From my experience, when demos work the game also works.
I'm testing on macOS Sequoia with standard Crossover (not patched with apple GPT 2.0 beta.)
