Seems like with the plethora of new Linux support coming what almost feels daily, there may be the big question of WHY?, but I say we still have alot of unsupported titles that need some kind of Wine to take care of em. Lets do it! (Pretty please with sugar on it :P)
...I've already looked at desura, even rattled together a crosstie
for it and delved into it's workings to see how well (or not) it
plays with crossover. It would be a difficult title to 'officially'
support imho, because of it's nature...ie; one might install it in
a standalone context, as part of a Steam bottle, or else as part of
another apps' bottle to make use of the game mod installation shizzle...
...I'm not knocking the idea, merely obviating some of the difficulties
I've already considered in desura's regard...

Cheers!
Not knocking your logic or commentary, its true. But that said, the same things could apply to Steam. They managed to do a FANTASTIC job keeping on tabs with Valve and all the breakages the updates seem to constantly cause. Not that I know anyone at Desura in the slightest, but they would have to be a hellified more easy of a team to work with IMO. Finding out WHAT went wrong on the code side has to be a walk in the park compared to working with Valve.
That said, it looks like most NEW titles on Desura are Linux friendly, so hopefully its not going to end up being a major issue anyway. Native is preferred anyhow. But I will take a Win32 binary that works fine via wine (intentional by the devs or not)
Thanks.
Andrew.
