Please, Please, PLEASE... is it possible to get the NCsoft launcher working with crossover? i really want to completely get rid of all forms of windows in my house but... i play NCSoft games. especially city of heroes. (which is now free to play)
I managed to get the new launcher to install but when it runs it just creates a window with a grey background and no content. If this is something that would not be to complicated to get fixed in the next build i would greatly appreciate it. (it seems like its really close to working but just missing something)
already enjoying steam / civ 5 on my kubuntu systems thanks to your wonderful work.
... in reality, getting the ncsoft launcher to work is only one barrel
of a double-barreled shotgun ; whether or not the ncsoft games themselves
run, will be largely dependent on whether or not they employ 'gameguard'
-- if they do, it highly likely they won't run in crossover/wine presently...
...as for the launcher, I just checked it again and while it's pretty easy
to get it displaying content etc etc, you end up at the above problem (which
looks to me here like a .NET issue as well, perhaps related to .NET2.0 SP1/2
or the lack thereof), and it goes nowhere ... at any rate, if it is related
to the .NET 2.0 service packs, they will need to be supported in wine first,
before we'll see such as part of the crossover wine build...
.... just as a note, folks often confuse things like 'gameguard', as being
a form of copy protection -- it isn't, and any 'free to play' title might
use it as well (to stop people cheating =) ....
Cheers!
