How to add IP to the hosts file

Hi,

I am trying numero 7 version of Crossover and I cannot connect to the Exchange server at my work. I am connecting through VPN but when I try to make the connection (from the add profile in Mail config) it always returns with "Cannot connect to the exchange server". I tried alot but cannot get it to work.

I read somewhere that adding IP to the Hosts file could fix it but I don´t know nothing about Hosts files. I have it and the IP of the mail server but I don´t know how to add it to the Hosts file.

Can someone help me out?

Cheers,
H

Hilmar,

Traditionally, the hosts file is located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ETC in Windows but because of the way CX7 integrates with OSX, you'll actually want to modify the host file of your OSX system from what I've tested. You can find this in /private/etc and can modify it with a command line text editor such as emacs/vim or simply use OSXs TextEdit. Consult your resources if you don't know much about Hosts files as adding bad information to this file could impair your ability to connect to certain sites correctly.

Cheers,

Drew
