While Steam itself runs reasonably well on my 2.2 GHz, 4GB RAM, X3100 Macbook, Team Fortress 2 does not. I have seen videos on YouTube of Team Fortress 2 running rather smoothly on Macbooks with the exact same hardware specification as mine, and yet I barely manage 12 fps in some areas, despite running it on the lowest possible settings at a tiny resolution. I'm using Crossover Games 9 and Mac OS X 10.6.3. Any suggestions?
Is this a relatively new bottle? Did you previously make any changes to the registry? (For example, the useGLSL setting.)
You can try passing "-dxlevel 81" as a launch option to the game.
