Some of you saw that mechwarrior 4 was released for free yesterday.

I never played the series, but heard it was good. I tried to run the installer from their website yesterday, but it failed. I am using 8.1.4 on Linux.
Has anyone gotten it to work?

I haven't actually tried it (yet)...but there's a bit of
info on this title (CD version) over at wineHQ ; perhaps some
of the info there is pertinent to the free release?...see;

hey, the problem with this is most likely not crossover. I've seen people try to use it on windows, and the downloader application that they supply is absolutely horrid. it was taking 15 minutes to refresh the screen, and was constantly locking up. your better off waiting for their prepackaged release. this version is only an application that downloads a torrent.
