Nothing in bottle after install

Trial version 22.1.1 on Mac mini M2 Ventura 13.4
I tried to install Maple V R4 from optical disk, into both Win98 & Win2000 bottles. The original disk readme file stated Win 3, Win NT & Win 95. And I've had Maple V run all the way up to Win 7. When it's all done, it just says that there is no application in the bottle. It's just one of the old Windows workhorse programs I still use, and I'm disappointed. I really need PhotoShop 7.0.1, but have to install it as an upgrade from 5, which was an upgrade from 4. This does not look encouraging.

I was trying to transfer my work from an old Dell 755 with Win7 onto a 2023 Mac mini M2 with Ventura. Via an external hard drive, I copied the PS7 program files from the Dell into the bottle on the Mac. Then I could install the upgrade PS7 because I had an "old installation" in the bottle. But it's very disappointing. When I got PS7 running, it pulled up my PSD work files on the Mac, after giving some permissions, but the images had a weird color range and looked like very low quality JPG, with lots of highly visible artifacts. I can't do professional work or images for the book I'm writing this way. I'm going to have to learn how to use GIMP and Inkscape on the Mac, and they don't need CrossOver.
Too bad. I was really hoping this would be flawless and seamless.

Did you try obtaining an installer for Photoshop 7 itself as opposed to an upgrade? Seems to be available on a Google search, although I'm not sure how reliable the pages that came up are exactly. Is there a specific reason it has to be Photoshop 7? The latest version of Photoshop is native, albeit with a subscription.

As I said, I got PS7 running by copying Win7 Program files into to the bottle, then using the upgrade disk.

My bad on the images. I found that the HDMI input on my TV/monitor simply makes a rougher image than the VGA input. I had forgotten that, having set up my Win 7 computer years ago. The images smooth out in running the Mac HDMI output through a converter cable into the VGA input on the monitor. But I'm not sure now which kind of image is true, and what they will look like when printed in a book.

As far as Maple V R4 goes, the same trick did not work in a Win7-32 bottle. No matter what I try, including running the Maple V directly from the exe file, I get error messages full of Apple Silicon errors. CrossOver simply cannot run it on a 2023 M2 Mac mini. And yes, I did let Rosetta 2 install. I may move CrossOver to my 2014 Mac mini and run it there. I hope that Codeweavers will improve M2 compatibility. I have a number of old engineering and math programs that are still very useful. Or would be, if my cognition were what it used to be.

BTW, While getting PS7 to run on the M2 machine, various windows and panes in it tend to blink off and on while it does things.

Good to hear things are better on the Photoshop 7 front. I'm not sure how much luck you'll have with Maple V, as it is quite old(1996 or so?). You might have some luck reaching out to support, they may have some better ideas. Unless there may be a later version of the app that fares better?

I had similar with a different application that I installed from a downloaded setup.exe. I can't get Crossover to admit that it's installed in the bottle. I can run the application by viewing the C drive, finding the .exe file for the application and opening that in Crossover (i.e. right click and "open with..."). My program of choice installs itself in a non-obvious location and that may be confusing Crossover.

You can always save the exe as a launcher. In the right-hand menu click run and navigate to the exe, ticking the box to save as a launcher.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that AI art has turned anyone's life into a "fucking waste." As a fervent student of writing, I've witnessed AI's transformative role in enhancing creativity and accessibility. Rather than being a hindrance, it's a boon, unlocking new dimensions of artistic expression. AI-generated art sparks inspiration, pushing the boundaries of conventional creativity. In fact, my recent research paper, explored through a writing platform https://essaypro.com/research-papers-for-sale), delves into the symbiotic relationship between human ingenuity and AI. It's time to embrace the fusion of technology and art, recognizing the immense potential it holds for innovation and personal growth.

Did you manage to solve your problem?
