2 CDs

Hi,
Im trying to install IL2. installer works fine, until I need to change to CD2, then it crashes out. just before that I get e system error, saying cannot unmount volume as application has it locked.

OS is mandriva 2010 is crossover able to install using multiple CDs?

Cheers

Hi,

First up...which version of IL-2 ? Also there's a C4 page here for
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 -- see ;

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=4104

You should always try to post to an app/game's C4 forum - better chance
of getting help. That all said however, you've tripped on an interesting
situation here if it's CXG-9.0 you're using? In previous releases of
CXG the cxinstaller had an 'eject disk' button which you could click in
such situations to load subsequent discs in a multidisc installation set.
I just checked this with CXG-9.0 and it looks like that widget is gone...

..I'll need ask one of the codeweaver's devs/staff about that omission ;
going by your experience here, lack of the 'eject disc' function is going
to be a problem in situations like this (I have some multidisc install sets
here so I'll do a bit of checking myself to confirm the behavior)...

I have the gog.com version of IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 -- it ships as 3 download
files so it's not the same as a CD install.....the following might work;

create a directory somewhere, call it IL2Install or such
mount CD1 and copy it's entire contents to the above IL2Install directory
mount CD2 and copy it's entire contents to the above IL2Install directory
try the installation again, only this time click on 'choose installer file'
and open the Setup.exe file (or whatever it might be called) in the IL2Install directory

..see if that works in the interim -- crossover should be able to install
from multiple discs, but it made need that 'eject disc' widget to do that ;
it maybe an oversight with the new GUI, I'll find out what the go is here
and let you know - thanks for mentioning this!

Cheers!

Hi Don,

Thanks for answer. yeh, Im using CX9 I put it in here as I wasnt sure if it was a game problem or cx problem. was having some issues with mandriva & cd/dvd drives which I have now (I think) sorted. So I`ll retry the install again during the week. FWIW it was IL2 FB I was trying to install... Not sure if that one works anyway.

I`ll now pop over to the IL2 forum :)

Cheers

Hi Derek,

Yep...no worries...it would seem the lack of the eject button in
the linux GUI -is- an over-sight, and I've been told this will be put
right in the -next- CXG release. If/when you get there, you can report
your experiences with IL2:FB and crossover on it's C4 page;

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=6639

(I just discovered we had an entry for that sequel 8)

Thanks again for pointing this out...

Cheers!

Until that next CrossOver Games release that fixes the oversight, you can do the following to achieve the same thing as the eject button:

/opt/cxgames/bin/wine --bottle <bottle name> --wl-app eject.exe -a

(Use "~" instead of "/opt" if that's where you installed it.)

Hi Ken,
thanks you..

Derek
