So i recently moved into college with my Macbook Pro (I know, so original) with pretty much the standard settings (i.e. a 2.26 gHz processor) and am trying to install Steam on my Mac using Crossover. Well I forgot the disc at home and when I go to http://store.steampowered.com/ and hit the download link, a MSI file shows up. Is there any way to use Crossover to install Steam w/o the original disc?
If I am not being clear just post and I will try to settle any issues.
Which disc did you forget? You don't need your CrossOver disc (if you bought one). You can always download CrossOver from our site.
You don't need a disc for Steam, either. If you select Configure > Install Software, CrossOver presents a list of the software packages it knows about. One is Steam via download. Once you select that and select which bottle to install it into, CrossOver presents a list of installer locations. You can let CrossOver download the Steam installer it knows about, or you can select Choose an Installer File to pick the MSI file you already downloaded. From there, CrossOver will proceed with the installation. It will download and install whatever it needs.
Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
